'I am going': Chris Sutton predicts what the score will be when Everton face Sheffield United

Chris Sutton can only see one winner of Everton’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.

Sean Dyche will be hoping to end Everton’s home campaign on a high and continue their fine run of recent form.

Changes could well be in the offing with Andre Gomes and Amadou Onana potentially returning to the starting XI.

Chris Wilder’s Blades have endured a forgetful return to the Premier League and are getting set for life in the Championship.

Sutton, who is never far away from a controversial opinion, has offered a prediction for every single Premier League fixture this season. Some are certainly tougher than others.

However, the Toffees’ clash against Sheffield United should be a routine home win, and Sutton agrees.

In his BBC Sport predictions, he said: “The pressure is all off Everton now, but this is their final home game of the season, and they will want to sign off on a high note.

“Sheffield United’s campaign has been disastrous from the start. They have conceded 100 league goals already, and I don’t think they are stopping there.

“You would not describe Everton as a free-scoring team, but the Blades have a habit of capitulating, and I am going with a pretty routine win for Sean Dyche’s side. 2-0.”

Everton targeting five home wins in a row

A win on Saturday will see Everton claim their fifth home triumph in a row after picking up victories over Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford.

It’s certainly been a long time since Everton’s form at Goodison Park was this imposing.

On the field, things couldn’t be going better. The players finally look like a team that’s entirely behind the manager’s ideas.

But it’s still difficult to get too excited about the 2024/25 season off-the-field issues still rumbling on in the background.

777 Partners’ protracted takeover appears to be failing, and there have now been suggestions that Farhad Moshiri has held talks with another interested party.

Steering clear of the Miami-based group – who are clearly unfit for purpose – is the priority.
