"Excited": Ian Wright now explains why he is buzzing about Crystal Palace

Ian Wright has been talking about Crystal Palace, and in doing so has explained just why he’s so excited about the club right now.

Crystal Palace are in an excellent place right now with five games unbeaten and most recent of all, smashing Manchester United 4-0 at home.

This sort of form was unfeasible under Roy Hodgson but Oliver Glasner has flipped the club onto its head as they are now pushing for a top-10 finish.

Former Palace man turned pundit, Ian Wright has now spoken out about what’s making him so excited about the work being done at Selhurst Park.

Ian Wright loves the work Oliver Glasner is doing at Crystal Palace right now

Wright was speaking on the Stick to Football podcast and used the Eagles’ boss as a reason that Erik ten Hag should be doing better at Man United, but in doing so explained what has got him so excited about Palace.

“Like I just mentioned, Glasner, in 13 games look at Palace, they’ve changed.

“They [Palace] want to do something where they can go somewhere else. Now they’ve found a manager who’s won stuff as well.

“Why I’m excited about Palace, is that their manager is changing something.”

Wright then continued to rave over the midfield pairing which has been in place through this solid run of form.

“He’s got Adam Wharton and [Will] Hughes now playing great football, passing it through. They’ve got a structure of play.”

Glasner’s identity is already firmly imprinted on his team

Wright’s praise began as he questioned Ten Hag for a lack of footballing structure, despite having two years in which to implement one.

It’s quite miraculous that in just under three months, Glasner has already done this with his Eagles, as the style of football has shifted completely under the Austrian.

He’s got his team well-drilled and dominating opponents in games from minute one until 90, which shows he’s also improved his squad’s fitness levels.

The biggest compliment is already he has his side in a position where we know exactly what each player will be doing and where.

A well-oiled machine already, we can’t wait to see how much better it can get.
