Report: £25m Tottenham player now in talks over exit despite Postecoglou being a big fan

Tottenham are set for a big overhaul this summer and one of their defenders is apparently in talks with a club abroad already.

Ange Postecoglou spoke last week about the need to make big changes at the club this summer and the playing squad is expected to be a key part of that overhaul.

A number of Tottenham players could find themselves moved out of the club as Postecoglou looks for fresh faces and better quality.

Of course, one of those players who might well be on his way out of the door is Brazilian defender Emerson Royal.

The £25m signing has had a turbulent time ever since he signed and according to reports from Italy, he’s already in talks with one of Serie A’s giants about a move.

AC Milan in talks over signing Tottenham’s Emerson Royal

According to a report from Football Italia, who city Gazzetta dello Sport, a deal for Royal to go to Milan could well be on the cards.

It is claimed that the defender’s agents have been in talks with the Milan giants for a few weeks now and there is a belief that the Serie A side can get the deal over the line.

One problem is thought to be Tottenham’s reluctance to sell Royal for anything less than the £25m they shelled out to bring him in from Barcelona.

But Milan, who have ambitious plans this summer to strengthen a number of areas, are thought to be pushing along with trying to get a deal done.

Tottenham, then, could well see some early movement in terms of exits.

Emerson Royal needs to leave Tottenham

We’ve all heard the stories of Barcelona being shocked at Tottenham paying £25m for the Brazilian and now, we can see why.

Despite reports suggesting Postecoglou is actually an admirer of Royal, the fact remains he just doesn’t seem good enough to play the system the Spurs boss wants.

Emerson’s display at Liverpool also highlighted his weaknesses as well, as Micah Richards labelled his effort as a ‘nightmare’ and Gary Neville highlighted his defensive frailties when Mo Salah scored.

Another pundit, Don Hutchison, also believes Royal will be sold as he’s not good enough.

A move to AC Milan, then, might well be a god-send for the defender in the end.
