David Beckham waxes lyrical about ‘incredible’ former Man Utd target who lived up to hype, it’s a major compliment

David Beckham has dropped his biggest praise on a former Manchester United target who is a “model pro” and lived up to the high expectations placed on him.

The 49-year-old Manchester United legend shot to superstardom during his illustrious spell at Old Trafford under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

David Beckham enjoyed incredible success at United and lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two FA Cups with the Red Devils.

The former United superstar, who retired from football in 2013, went on to play for the likes of Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Beckham was a key part of the famous United team that lifted an iconic treble in the 1998-99 season under legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The ex-England captain on Thursday took to the red carpet for the premiere of Prime Video’s ’99,’ a documentary series on United’s famous continental treble win in 1999.

During the 99 premiere, Beckham waxed lyrical about one ex-United target and dropped his two cents on England’s Euro 2024 campaign this summer.

Beckham on England and Euro 2024

England, who finished as runners-up at Euro 2020, punched their ticket to Euro 2024 in Germany with an impressive qualifying campaign.

The Three Lions finished top of Group C ahead of Euro 2020 champions Italy, with England going the entire qualifying rounds without suffering a single defeat.

England have been placed in Group C at the tournament and the Three Lions will play against Denmark, Slovenia and Serbia at Euro 2024.

The Three Lions are considered one of the favourites to win the trophy this summer under Gareth Southgate, who is out of contract with England in December.

David Beckham, who was capped 115 times for the Three Lions, believes that England have a “real opportunity” to come out on top at the tournament.

“As England fans, we’re always excited for when the Euros come around or the World Cup comes around and our fans will get right behind the team,” he told talkSPORT.

“I think we have a real opportunity but we all know that once you’re in a tournament, then it’s a whole different ball game.

“But I’m excited, as an England fan I’m excited for these Euros.”

Beckham talks up former Man Utd target’s impact

Along with his verdict on England’s Euro 2024 campaign, Beckham spoke highly of former United target Jude Bellingham.

Jude Bellingham was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, with former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitting he tried to sign him.

The 20-year-old midfielder left Borussia Dortmund last summer and completed a blockbuster move to Real Madrid in a deal worth a whopping £115m.

Bellingham has lived up to the high expectations placed on his shoulders and has been an integral figure in Madrid’s campaign under Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Dortmund midfielder is expected to play a big part for England at Euro 2024, with Beckham praising Bellingham as a “model pro.”

“Obviously, the season that Jude’s had, the talent that he is,” Beckham said.

“But it’s not just the talent with Jude, it’s about the way he is, the way he handles himself, he’s a model pro [who] knows exactly what he needs to do.

“For someone that is so young to have the maturity that he has is incredible and I think him playing abroad has helped him with that.

“Now he’s obviously at Real Madrid where the expectations are higher than most other clubs around the world and he’s living up to those.

“It’s great to see his smile, it’s great to see the talent that he is and when he gets in that England shirt, we’ll all be very happy as well.”
