19-goal forward is better than Erling Haaland and Michael Edwards can bring him to Liverpool - opinion

There’s a player who is doing better than Erling Haaland and Michael Edwards holds the key to bringing him to Liverpool.

Liverpool will be looking to reinforce the team with an attacking player this season. That makes sense, considering Arne Slot’s attacking style of play relies on having a lot of options.

But also because Liverpool’s attack hasn’t been super productive throughout the season.

In fact, if there has been one thing which has let Liverpool down this season, it’s been their lack of efficiency in front of goal.

Liverpool have been wasteful in front of goal and that has cost them in a lot of games this season.

Why Benjamin Sesko could solve Liverpool’s problems

Liverpool need to find a prolific scorer who is not fazed in front of goal. Someone of similar ilk to Erling Haaland.

Right now in European football there are few as effective as Benjamin Sesko. The 20-year-old forward has 19 goal contributions for RB Leipzig in just under 2000 minutes of football.

He has scored in six consecutive games for the German side. Meanwhile, looking at the underlying numbers, Sesko also has the best goal conversion out of U23 forwards in Europe’s top five leagues, even better than Haaland.

Sesko is exactly the type of finisher Liverpool have lacked. Someone capable of putting away a high volume of chances.

Michael Edwards knows how to get the deal done

Liverpool have purchased a lot of players from Red Bull clubs over the years. This trend was started by Michael Edwards, and FSG’s head of football operations does have a good working relationship with the club.

Leipzig will be reluctant to let Sesko go so soon, but if anyone can convince them otherwise, it would be Edwards, who has conducted so many deals with the German side over the years.
