'Generated a lot': Tata Martino in awe of Inter Miami star after 'game-deciding' performance vs Montreal

Tata Martino has showered an Inter Miami star with praise after his ‘game-deciding’ performance last night against CF Montreal.

The Herons once again had to come from behind to claim all three points as Inter Miami secured a 3-2 win having gone down 2-0, with Matias Rojas kick-starting the turnaround with an incredible free-kick.

A night where Lionel Messi was at his quietest for some time, Inter Miami had to rely on their other star players to get the win in Canada, with the Herons back on top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings after Saturday’s win.

And manager Martino was impressed with one player in his post-match interview.

Benjamin Cremaschi praised after Montreal heroics for Inter Miami

Speaking to the Miami Herald, Martino lauded Benjamin Cremaschi after the teenager scored the match-winning goal to secure the win for Inter Miami, with the midfielder making his first start of the season.

Having won praise last week from Kieran Gibbs and Julian Gressel, Cremaschi’s performance against Montreal was another clear sign of the 19-year-old’s incredible potential for Inter Miami.

And Martino was impressed with what he saw from the USA international, who now back from injury will be a key player for Inter Miami heading into the Copa America break later this summer.

Martino said: “Benja generated a lot in the minutes he played. It had been a long time since he started a game, he played 70 minutes and we are very satisfied with his performance, and with his game-deciding goal.”

Cremaschi again showed why he is a MLS star in the making

Cremaschi’s development in the last 12 months has been a joy to watch for Inter Miami fans, and last night against Montreal again showed why the midfielder is such an exciting prospect.

The midfielder caused problems all night and was constant presence for Inter Miami, especially after going down 2-0 in the first-half before the inevitable comeback.

And for Cremaschi, the teenager knows he is a star in the making, with MLS having a potential poster child for some seasons if the midfielder chooses to remain and help Inter Miami grow in the coming years.
