Report: One club is actually surprised they've been linked with Newcastle star so heavily

For what has felt like an age, Newcastle United have seen their key players linked with moves away.

While few would be able to doubt the ambition PIF have shown in charge of Newcastle, FFP limitations mean the club are looking to raise money through player sales.

There has been talk of a big rebuild this summer in order to revamp Eddie Howe’s squad after a season to have seriously tested the limits of it at times.

In an ideal world, Newcastle would go out and strengthen on top of what they’ve already got.

Indeed, the PIF era has so far been one of upward trajectory, so the prospect of losing a key player is hardly in keeping with the post-takeover story so far.

Luckily, Howe is said to want to build around Alexander Isak despite interest from Arsenal in the striker.

Bruno Guimaraes, however, is a somewhat different story.

The midfielder has talked about wanting to stay at St James’ Park amid links with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.

Still, the fact Guimaraes has a release clause in his contract does obviously weaken Newcastle’s hand.

The likes of Craig Hope, however, believe he will stay at the club next season at least.

Now, more insight has emerged.

What sources are now saying about Bruno Guimaraes and Newcastle

Hope wrote in theDaily Mail that sources within football circles are suggesting that interested parties simply don’t see a value in paying the £100m required to sign him.

There is said to be a belief that some of the speculation comes from agents looking to create a market where, in fact, interested parties aren’t willing to go quite that high.

The report even adds that PSG chiefs are “surprised” they have been linked so heavily.

Bruno Guimaraes has already settled down in Newcastle

That, of course, is brilliant to hear.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised, either.

Last month, the Brazil star reportedly purchased a £4m home in the North East, potentially hinting at the fact he’s looking to set roots on Tyneside.
