Report: Manchester United want £34m flying full-back who is currently owned by Manchester City

Manchester United are set to have a busy summer ahead, with incomings as well as outgoings.

As the Red Devils embark fully into the Sir Jim Ratcliffe-led era of transfers, were surely set to see Ineos and co splash the cash on some big names this summer.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says there are four positions he’s convinced Manchester United will sign players this summer.

But there could very well be more, including a potential right-back.

Manchester United want Yan Couto

Manchester United are targeting a move for Yan Couto, report Italian outlet Tutto Juve.

Couto has been an ever-present force in La Liga shock high-flyers Girona’s side this season. A pacey, Brazilian full-back – he is actually owned by Manchester City currently.

The report suggests that the Cityzen’s are willing to part ways with the Brazil international, and reckon they can get around £34m (€40m) for him on the market.

Manchester United are one of the interested clubs, with European powerhouses Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus all also keen.

The 21-year-old has 10 assists from right-back for Girona this campaign and has been a vital part to their successes as they qualify for Champions League football. But is he what Manchester United need?

Would Yan Couto be a good investment for Manchester United

Despite Diogo Dalot having a good season in red, yes – we also wouldn’t be opposed to going for Yan Couto.

In our opinion, Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be sold in the summer, meaning a replacement right-back is necessary. But this is an issue, given the fact there are very few world class right-sided full-backs on the market.

Couto is young and hungry, and has already proven he is excellent in a tough league. We’d like to see him knocking around Carrington next season.
