Amad sends message to Manchester United fans after Arsenal defeat, provides injury update

Manchester United handed a long overdue to start to Amad Diallo in Sunday’s game against Arsenal.

It is more than two years since Amad last started a Premier League game for Manchester United.

After scoring 16 goals on loan at Sunderland last season, Amad had hoped not to have to wait until May 2024 to see his name called.

On Sunday he was selected as Manchester United hosted Arsenal. He was a bright spark during the 1-0 defeat.

Amad message to Manchester United fans

Amad was instantly lively from the first kick off and was one of Manchester United’s most promising attacking outlets.

While Alejandro Garnacho looked a little laboured at times, due to the sheer amount of football he has played this season, Amad looked fresh.

He thought he should have had a penalty when he was felled in the penalty box late in the first half. No spot kick was awarded.

Amad received treatment from United’s medical staff, but was able to continue.

He did not complete the game, substituted on 70 minutes for Antony.

Amad sent a message out on X after game concluded.

He wrote: “The knee to knee in the first half bothered me in the second half. otherwise I’m fine.”

Amad second injury against Arsenal

It is good news to hear Amad has sustained nothing more than a minor knock. Nobody wants to see him injured again.

He suffered a knee injury against Arsenal during pre-season last July, and this turned out to be an injury which kept him out of action until the end of December.

His season highlight was a dramatic winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final, an epic 4-3 win.

But since then, it doesn’t feel like he has quite kicked on, although there were some encouraging signs withhis performance against Arsenal.
