With official visits on the horizon, Mesquite (Texas) Horn four-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers opted to trim his list of top schools down to eight on Monday.
Florida State, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, SMU, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M all made the cut for the 6-foot-7 trench monster.
Rogers is the No. 53 overall prospect and No. 6 OT in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 11 player in Texas.
The four-star had a busy March, as he visited multiple of his finalists, including Oklahoma, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M. When speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons in March, Rogers said he was still “open” in his recruitment, but he’s now narrowing things down as he searches for his home at the college level.
“I want to produce at a school,” Rogers told On3. “(So), I really don’t have a preference about staying in-state or going out of the state.”
Coaching staffs are pushing for Rogers
Rogers has locked in official visits to Missouri (May 31), Texas A&M (June 7), Texas (June 14) and Oklahoma (June 18) thus far. Coaches from each program are working hard to land the 300-pounder.
The blue-chipper has taken a plethora of visits to Oklahoma and Texas throughout his recruitment. Sooners OL coach Bill Bedenbaugh and Longhorns OL coach Kyle Flood have each developed an impressive reputation for development in the trenches.
“Coach B, he’s a cool dude,” Rogers said of the OU assistant. “I respect him a lot. He is a great coach, he develops guys and he is a great person.”
“We’ve started doing meetings and other things,” he added of Flood. “They’ve been really cool.”
Not to be outdone, the staffs in College Station and Columbia are also making positive impressions on Rogers. Mike Elko is among the multiple A&M staffers that are keeping contact, while Mizzou OL coach Brandon Jones is also developing a great relationship.
“They just came in from Duke,” Rogers said of the A&M staff. “I feel like they’re going to build a great culture and develop their guys into men on and off the field.”
“He’s a real cool dude,” he added of Jones. “The coaching staff, they’re great. They’re really cool. Also, Missouri has a winning culture.”
