Aston Villa are set to make millions as outcast’s departure is confirmed

Aston Villa are set to add to their transfer kitty early after the departure of one outcast was confirmed.

With Champions League football looking likely for the 2024/25 campaign, the upcoming summer transfer window is a massive one for Unai Emery’s side.

The club has the chance to show their abilities on Europe’s biggest stage yet again. However, improvements will need to be made to Villa’s first team.

While Emery certainly knows his best XI, there are many players the Spaniard isn’t fond of. Therefore, this summer presents a perfect opportunity to sell these players in order to raise funds for incoming transfers.

Now, in the final week of the Premier League season, Villa have received a financial boost as outcast Morgan Sanson is set to move on at the end of the season.

Sanson’s time at the Birmingham outfit never worked out. Despite joining in 2021, the 29-year-old has only made 21 appearances for the club due to injuries and poor form.

As a result, Sanson was sent out on loan to Strasbourg last season and now finds himself at Nice.

At the French club, the midfielder has scored twice and got three assists in 28 games as Nice aim to finish in the Champions League spots.

Now, it has been confirmed that Sanson is set to stay at Nice permanently after two conditions were met in his loan deal.

Nice manager Francesco Farioli confirmed the permanent move on Tuesday when he said: “Morgan is officially an OGC Nice player for next season. It is something that we celebrated. He has given a lot for the team & shown a desire to stay here. He is happy and we are too.”

According to Get French Football News, Sanson needed to play over half of Nice’s matches this season with the club also needing to finish in the top eight.

With both of these conditions now met, Nice will pay €4 million for the midfielder.

Early sales a big boost for FFP concerns

In February, it was announced that Villa had lost just under £120 million in 2023. As a result, finance expert Kieran Maguire warned the club that sales may be needed in order to comply with FFP.

However, Villa selling outcasts such as Sanson will only help reduce their FFP concerns ahead of the summer window.

While the €4 million may not seem a lot, Sanson was on a reported £48k-a-week according to Spotrac. Therefore, the money saved on top of the transfer fee will only help the club.

Hopefully, over the next few months, more outcasts such as Philippe Coutinho and Leander Dendoncker will also depart to help bring in more cash over the course of the window.
