Fabrizio Romano claims £26m player now expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur’s campaign is drawing to a close but Ange Postecoglou will be looking to end his debut season on a high.

Postecoglou went into Saturday’s game against Burnley on a four-game losing streak following a string of concerning displays.

Losing to Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool isn’t so bad in isolation, but strung together with poor performances throughout left fans worried.

Saturday’s 2-1 win over Burnley at least halted the slide, even if it took a late goal to beat the relegation-bound Clarets.

Posteocglou now faces a test against Pep Guardiola and Manchester City – a game many Spurs fans actually want to lose in order to dent Arsenal’s title hopes.

The Spurs boss will just want to end the season as strongly as possible, even if it means potentially helping Arsenal.

Emerson Royal wanted by AC Milan

Postecoglou has already admitted that he wants to make changes to his squad and that means some players being flogged this summer.

One man who could move on is Emerson Royal.

The Brazilian started the season as Tottenham’s first-choice right back and actually scored on the opening weekend against Brentford.

Pedro Porro has nailed down the spot as Tottenham’s first-choice right back this season though, leaving Emerson out in the cold.

We have seen Emerson come in at left back and even centre back at times, but his performances have been far from convincing.

It may now be time for Emerson to move on and Fabrizio Romano claims that Emerson is ‘one of many players expected to leave’ Tottenham this summer.

Romano claims that AC Milan want to sign Emerson as they target a new right back for this summer.

Emerson is believed to be ‘high on their list’ with Tottenham seemingly ready to cash in.

Gazzetta dello Sport add that Milan do want Emerson and Tottenham will accept around €30million (£26million) for him this summer.

Whether Milan are ready to pay that amount remains to be seen but Emerson’s days at Tottenham appear to be coming to an end.

Emerson another right back to make away

The days of Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker battling it out at right back at Tottenham are long gone.

Walker’s exit saw Serge Aurier come in but he didn’t quite live up to expectations before Trippier moved on in 2019.

Matt Doherty joined in 2020, Emerson in 2021, Djed Spence in 2022 and Porro in 2023; Tottenham have thrown so many darts at the board in an attempt to find a quality right back.

Porro has been stepping up this season but the amount of money wasted on below-par right backs in recent times has been alarming.

Emerson was just another signing who was expected to be the solution but will end up leaving in search of minutes elsewhere.

That is likely to force Tottenham into the market for another right back option; let’s just hope the money is spent wisely this time.
