Tiger Woods has a new look for the PGA Champion as he’s sporting a goatee. During his press conference, Woods was asked if the goatee was a conscious choice or just laziness.

“It’s the second one, I’m definitely lazy,” Woods said. “I cut myself this morning trying to trim it up, so it is what it is.”

Woods arrived at the Vallhala Golf Club on Sunday. The PGA Championship will be Woods’ second major tourmament of the year as he competed in the 2024 Masters in April. This will also be Woods’ first time in Valhalla since the 2014 PGA Championship. At that time, Woods missed the cut after shotting 74-74 for two rounds of three-over-par.

Of the 15 major championships Woods has won in his career, he has won the PGA Championship four times. Woods last won the event in 2007, shooting eight-under-par in the four rounds.

Folowing the PGA Championship, Woods will get ready to take part in in the U.S. Open which will taje place in June. “The U.S. Open, our national championship, is a truly special event for our game and one that has helped define my career,” Woods said in a statement. “I’m honored to receive this exemption and could not be more excited for the opportunity to compete in this year’s U.S. Open, especially at Pinehurst, a venue that means so much to the game.”

Tiger Woods talks negotiaions with PIF

Along with talking about his goatee, Woods gave an update on the PGA Tour’s talks with Saudia Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the company that finances LIV Golf. “Well, I think we’re working on negotiations with PIF,” Woods said, per ESPN.

“It’s ongoing, it’s fluid. It changes day-to-day. Has there been progress? Yes, but it’s an ongoing negotiation, so a lot of work ahead for all of us with this process. And so we’re making steps and it may not be giant steps, but we’re making steps.”

Woods also acknowleged the fans are tired of hearing about the battle between for players and money with the two sides. “I think the fans are probably as tired as we are of the talk of not being about the game of golf and about not being about the players,” Woods said. “It’s about what LIV is doing, what we’re doing, players coming back, players leaving. The fans just want to see us play together. How we get there is to be determined.”
