Feyenoord assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff has stepped down from his role with the Netherlands national team to speed up his move to Liverpool this summer.
The Reds have struck a deal to hire Arne Slot as their new manager and the Dutchman hopes to bring Hulshoff over as his assistant, but numerous reports have revealed that Liverpool had concerns about Hulshoff's additional commitments with the national team.
Slot will move to Anfield this summer but would have to start work without Hulshoff, particularly if the Dutch side enjoy a deep run this summer, and Liverpool wanted to see their new management team get to work together as soon as possible.
To avoid any extra issues, Hulshoff has now resigned from his role with the Dutch team, who confirmed he has been replaced by Dwight Lodeweges.
Liverpool are yet to offer any formal confirmation of Slot's impending move to Anfield, although the boss has publicly insisted it is simply just a matter of time until an announcement is made.
"I can't reveal the details right now, but it is not about my contract," he said recently.
"There are a combination of factors which is the cause why there is no announcement yet. But don't worry. It will happen.
"I know I have been saying this every time over the past week, but I do expect that it really is a matter of days now. Some things just need more time."
Slot will need to find a new goalkeeper coach this summer after John Achterberg confirmed he will end his 15-year association with Liverpool this summer. Reports suggest he is heading to Saudi Arabia to link up with Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq.
