Developmental issues of Charar-i-Sharief taken up with LG

Srinagar:

In a move towards addressing the developmental challenges faced by the Charari Sharief constituency, Zahoor Ahmad Dar, Social Activist and Chairman of the Alamdar Peace Foundation Society J&K, called on Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

Dar outlined several issues affecting the place, particularly focusing on the high unemployment rate among the youth and the urgent need for comprehensive development in Charari Sharief and Yousmarg.

Lieutenant Governor assured Dar that development in Yousmarg and combating unemployment in Charar-i-Sharief would be top priorities. Highlighting the importance of these initiatives, the LG emphasised the following steps:

1. Yousmarg Development Project: The LG conveyed that he has already communicated the details of the Yousmarg development project to the Tourism Minister of India. This project aims to boost tourism, which in turn will create employment opportunities and improve the local economy, Dar said. 2. Infrastructure Improvements: “Plans are in place for the construction of a four-lane road connecting Srinagar to Charari Sharief and Yousmarg. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to facilitate easier access, promote tourism, and spur economic growth.” 3. Railway Station for Charari Sharief: The proposal for a railway station in Charari Sharief was discussed, with the LG expressing commitment to pushing this project forward. A railway connection would significantly enhance connectivity and mobility for residents and tourists alike, Dar said. 4. Self-Help Groups for Youth: “To directly tackle unemployment, the establishment of self-help groups (SHGs) for the youth in Charari Sharief was proposed. These SHGs will focus on skill development and entrepreneurship, providing young people with the tools and resources to create their own employment opportunities,” Dar added.
