Report: Club officials will ask to sign 'wonderful' Chelsea youngster on loan again, Blues highly rate him

One Chelsea youngster has made such a positive impact out on loan this year that the club are hopeful of bringing him back next season.

If you look at the current Blues first-team squad, there’s plenty of individuals in there that have benefited massively from loan spells earlier in their careers. For example, Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill developed well out on loan before respective breakthroughs.

Currently, the Blues have another batch of players that have played their football away from Stamford Bridge during this 2023/24 season. Will any break into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad next year after pre-season, though?

Club will ask to sign Chelsea youngster again

The Evening Standard claims that Strasbourg already have plans to re-sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea next season.

Strasbourg, who play in the French top division and are owned by the same investors as Chelsea, already have an eye on next season.

It is understood that Strasbourg officials will ask Chelsea if they can take Santos on loan for another 12 months.

The report adds that the Blues do highly rate their 20-year-old midfielder, who’s been doing well since his short-term loan transfer to Strasbourg back in the New Year.

Santos was tipped to have a “wonderful future” ahead of him by Thiago Silva earlier this month via Instagram. It’s the kind of prediction from a high-profile player that does carry some serious weight behind it.

Should Andrey Santos rejoin Strasbourg?

Santos only made two senior appearances during a disappointing loan with Nottingham Forest in the first half of the season. As a result, his loan was rightly ended early midway through the campaign.

In comparison, Santos has played 10 times in France for Strasbourg, starting the last eight consecutive Ligue 1 matches.

This is turning out to be a great home to play regular first-team football, so another year could make sense for all parties involved.
