Mohamed Elneny says £6m Arsenal player is the quickest at the club

Arsenal have some seriously quick players on their books.

The north London club are known for being quite controlled and measured in their build-up, but when push comes to shove, Arsenal can be electric and kill any team with their sheer pace.

Speaking to StatsSports, Mohamed Elneny was asked to name who he believes is the fastest player at Arsenal, and he gave an interesting answer.

Mohamed Elneny says Gabriel Martinelli is Arsenal’s fastest player

The Egyptian named Gabriel Martinelli as the player he thinks is the fastest at Arsenal, before being told that Ben White is the quickest according to the official stats.

“Who do you think is the quickest player at Arsenal this season?

“Martinelli?” Elneny said.

“You’re wrong?” The host said.

“Ben White can I say Ben White?” Elneny replied.

“It is Ben White, but you’re still wrong,” The host said.

“Why? I said Ben White? I wanted to say both Martinelli and Ben White,” Elneny concluded.

Ben White is faster than Martinelli

Ben White being faster than Martinelli is a real turn up for the books.

When you watch with just your eyes, it would appear that Martinelli is much quicker than White. After all, he’s a much more explosive player who can leave defenders for dead with his pace.

While White may not dribble with the ball at such a high pace, he’s clearly just as fast, and those defensive recovery runs see White clock up some serious speed.

Defenders are often much quicker than they’re given credit for, and White certainly isn’t a player you would consider one of the quickest around. However, as the stats show, the England international is actually the quickest player at Arsenal, despite Elneny believing Martinelli to be the fastest.

The £6m man is rapid, but he’s not at the top of the Arsenal speed leaderboard.
