'Amazing footballer': Conor Gallagher claims one of his Chelsea teammates is 'just incredible'

Conor Gallagher has paid a huge compliment to one of his Chelsea teammates by describing him as “just incredible”.

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, 24, has been a leader within the Blues squad this season, wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Gallagher’s been one of the individuals at Stamford Bridge that can be really happy with his impact and performances this campaign. Therefore, it’s interesting to hear him name the player that’s blown him away this year with their ability.

Conor Gallagher wowed by Chelsea star

Like so many in the football world this season, Gallagher is super impressed by what Cole Palmer has been able to do during this first year as a Chelsea player.

Palmer, who plays as a No 10 or right-winger, has made a colossal impact since joining the Blues from Manchester City last summer. He’s got 24 goals and 14 assists in 43 appearances for the west London club.

It’s the 22-year-old’s technical quality that has caught Gallagher’s attention.

“Cole is an amazing footballer. So much talent. Just naturally gifted. What he’s done for Chelsea this season is just unbelievable. You’ve got to give so much credit to him. He deserves all the plaudits he’s getting,” Gallagher told Sky Sports News.

When asked if Palmer should win the Premier League Player of the Season, Gallagher replied: “I think so, yeah. Absolutely. I think he deserves it. To get the amount of goals and assists he’s got this season for us is just incredible.”

Should Cole Palmer win Player of the Season?

The Chelsea Chronicle would pick Chelsea’s Palmer as the elite player in the Premier League division this season, as expected.

However, it’s not a bias choice to pick him out from the eight players that have made the shortlist for the individual prize.

  • Phil Foden (Man City)
  • Erling Haaland (Man City)
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle)
  • Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
  • Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
  • Declan Rice (Arsenal)
  • Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
  • Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

The Chelsea Chronicle would concede that Phil Foden, Ollie Watkins or Declan Rice would be worth winners. Palmer is still the standout selection, though.

Chelsea’s Palmer can gladly boast 21 goals and 10 assists in the league for such an inconsistent side. Blues supporters will tell you the left-footed playmaker has looked like a one-man attack sometimes.

He’ll hope to round off his season in style this week with two remaining games against Brighton (away) and Bournemouth (Sunday).
