Manchester United fans have sent a clear-cut message about Amad Diallo after the Ivorian winger’s performance against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways in the Premier League after their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford and 4-0 thumping to Crystal Palace last week.
Kobbie Mainoo fired Manchester United into the lead in the first half before Anthony Gordon pulled back an equaliser for Newcastle only four minutes after the break.
However, Amad Diallo then stepped up in the 57th minute and restored United’s advantage with a superb strike past Newcastle shot-stopper Martin Dubravka.
Rasmus Hojlund then came off the bench and silenced his critics by scoring United’s third amid the Denmark striker going through a tough run of form.
Lewis Hall scored in injury time for Newcastle, but Erik ten Hag’s men were able to hold out and seal a 3-2 win in their last match at Old Trafford this season.
Diallo steps up for Man Utd at Old Trafford
Manchester United fans have been frustrated this season with Amad Diallo’s lack of playing time since his return from a knee injury.
The 21-year-old winger has shown shades of brilliance during his sporadic appearances, including scoring the winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
However, Diallo made his first Premier League start in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford before returning to the starting XI for the Newcastle match.
The Ivorian attacker impressed in his second consecutive start for United, with Diallo finding the back of the net for the first time in the Premier League.
Diallo was lively in attack and linked up superbly well with Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, with the United wonderkid leaving a lasting impression.
The Ivory Coast international made way for United striker Rasmus Hojlund in the 82nd minute, having made his impact for the Red Devils in the match.
Man Utd fans react to Diallo vs Newcastle
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were quick to send a message to manager Erik ten Hag about Diallo going forward.
Some Red Devils supporters were frustrated with Diallo often being overlooked by Ten Hag for Antony, who has underwhelmed for United out on the right wing.
However, United fans felt strongly about the idea that Diallo must start the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on 25th May.
“Amad making a serious claim to start that FA Cup final,” one fan said.
Another simply tweeted: “Amad Diallo to start against City in the FA Cup final, I will be there.”
Someone else commented: “Amad deserves this. What a performance from the young devil. He HAS to start the FA Cup final.”
“Amad Diallo needs to start in the FA Cup. Needs to start over Antony in every match. Erik Ten Hag should just give in,” a fourth argued.
While one X user posted: “Manchester United fans don’t want to see anybody else starting on the right wing ‘till FA Cup final other than Amad Diallo. What a goal.”
And a sixth fan wrote: “If Amad is fit for [the] FA Cup final, he should start.”
A seventh said: “No, [whatever] happens Amad, Bruno [Fernandes] and [Kobbie] Mainoo all have to start the FA Cup final for us to stand a chance.”
Somebody else suggested: “One thing I’d never forgive Ten Hag for is making me watch Antony all season over Amad.”
