Real Madrid now handed major injury boost ahead of Champions League final

Real Madrid were dealt a blow in the Champions League semi-finals as midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni appeared to pick up an injury, hut he could return soon.

The Frenchman picked up an injury in the second leg of the semi-final victory over Bayern Munich, in which he was substituted for Eduardo Camavinga in the second-half.

In the immediate aftermath of the game, it was reported that Tchouameni only had a 20% chance of reaching the final. However, it has now emerged that he could be fit to feature against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

French outlet RMC Sport have revealed that Tchouameni is now doing “better” than before, and could still be in the squad for the clash with Dortmund on June 1st.

He had picked up a stress fracture in his left foot against Bayern, but this may not sideline him for too long, and Carlo Ancelotti would be delighted to have him available again.

Tchouameni has made 38 appearances in all competitions this season, and he has become an important part of the Real Madrid XI.

Real Madrid have already won La Liga, and have two more fixtures in the competition before the Wembley showdown.

Los Blancos will travel to Villarreal, before facing Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu, a week before the final.

As both of these games may come too soon for Tchouameni, it seems likely that he will be on the bench for the Champions League final, rather than thrown straight into the action.

Ancelotti will not want to risk re-injury, or the player making a crucial error at the base of midfield against a team with a lot of threat on the counter-attack in Dortmund.
