Pep Lijnders could take ‘special’ Liverpool prospect to Red Bull Salzburg this summer

There’s a ‘special’ Liverpool player that Pep Lijnders could take with him to Red Bull Salzburg when he leaves the club this summer.

When Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to leave Liverpool, it was always apparent that Pep Lijnders would leave with him.

Lijnders has made it no secret he sees himself as a head-coach in the future and not as an assistant. He was never going to get that role in Liverpool this summer.

Instead, the Liverpool assistant manager will be making a clever move to Red Bull Salzburg, where he can continue his development in an environment where he will be given the best possible support and resources.

Why Pep Lijnders could sign Mateusz Musialowski for Red Bull Salzburg

As one of his first decisions at Salzburg, Pep Lijnders could be tempted to return to Liverpool to make a signing by bringing in Mateusz Musialowski.

The Polish youth international’s contract expires at the end of the season. Liverpool are unlikely to retain him.

But he’s a very talented player and on a free contract it would make sense for a club like Salzburg to sign him.

Under Lijnders, Musialowski could develop into a top player. He’s always been highly rated at Liverpool and previously described as a ‘special’ prospect. At Salzburg, he might be able to fulfil his potential.

Why Red Bull Salzburg wanted Lijnders and why it benefits Liverpool

For the first time in a decade, Salzburg look like they will not be winning the Austrian Bundesliga this season.

Sturm Graz leads them by two points, heading into the final round of the season. It’s been a horrid campaign and the need for change has been obvious.

Lijnders with his track record of working with young players and playing a similar high intensity football at Liverpool is a perfect fit for Salzburg.

For Liverpool it further solidifies the club’s close ties with Red Bull, from whom they not only signed a lot of players from but also arranged plenty of pre-season friendlies as well and a lot of collaboration.
