What Lopetegui has told Tim Steidten will be music to the West Ham fans' ears

Incoming West Ham United manager Julen Lopetgui and director of football Tim Steidten will both be very busy men this summer.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten need to be working frantically over the course of the next few months, if West Ham are to be competitive on all fronts next season.

The 57-year-old Spaniard reportedly already has his first signing lined up – Sevilla hitman Youssef En-Nesyri.

However, he will need to make plenty more new additions than just the Moroccan, with a mass player exodus expected at the London Stadium this summer.

David Moyes has toiled during the second half of this season in his role as Hammers boss. The standard of football on display has been appalling, and we need that to change when Lopetegui is handed the reins.

With Lopetegui and Steidten working in tandem, the future could be very bright indeed for West Ham.

And now the former Wolves boss has apparently told the German something that will really excite the Hammers fans…

What Julen Lopetegui has told Tim Steidten

With so many new signings required this summer, the Spaniard and the German had better be on the same page when it comes to player recruitment.

Let’s not forget the players who need to be shipped out as well.

The 2024/25 campaign will be a great chance for Lopetegui to prove his worth, with no European football on the calendar for us.

Moyes has left a really poor squad behind – one that is painfully ill-balanced and to call it an ageing group would be an understatement.

If Lucas Paqueta leaves this summer, only six Hammers first-team players will be under the age of 29. Considering how much money has been spent by Moyes, that’s quite simply unacceptable.

It’s said that Lopetegui wants to bring in at least six new signings this summer, and the good news is that he is clearly aware of the size of the task that awaits him at the London Stadium.

So what are Lopetegui and Steidten planning?

According to a report from Claret and Hugh, the Spaniard has informed Steidten and the club’s owners of his desire to get his summer business done as soon as possible.

The report states, “Lopetegui is believed to have had long and detailed conversations with West Ham’s director of football and is eager to begin pre-season with as many new players in place as possible.”

“Lopetegui’s preparation ahead of starting work at Rush Green has been extremely thorough, and the Spaniard has no desire to wait until the end of the transfer window to complete his squad assembly.”

“It is understood that the club has already targeted and approached many of the players they wish to sign and are becoming increasingly confident in getting deals over the line early.”

That’s really great to hear, and it will make such a change from the way that Moyes has operated over the past four years or so.

If West Ham are to hit the ground running, all of our business needs to be done a week before the new season starts, and most of it should be completed before the bulk of our pre-season games begin.

Judging by C&H’s claim, Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are already getting all of their transfer ducks in a row.

Great news indeed.
