How Kylian Mbappe arrival could see Real Madrid change Jude Bellingham role

Real Madrid struck gold when they signed Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund last summer, and he is set to be joined by another superstar in Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman is set to join from Paris Saint-Germain, with an announcement expected after the conclusion of the season.

Mbappe has long been linked with Real Madrid, and will at last make his move to the Santiago Bernabeu, as the long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti was dealt a blow when he lost Benzema with no natural replacement last summer, but Bellingham surprisingly stepped up in an attacking role and leads the way for goals this season.

However, Mbappe’s arrival could have an impact on Bellingham’s role going forward.

Kylian Mbappe could force Jude Bellingham into deeper Real Madrid role

MARCA have now reported that Ancelotti is considering using Bellingham in a deeper midfield role to accommodate Mbappe. The Englishman has been playing at the tip of a diamond, almost in a false nine position, but he could now be used in a more defensive manner.

This will likely see Bellingham’s goal numbers drop next season, but this new role could also benefit him as he will return to a similar position as the one he played at Dortmund.

Real Madrid have leant heavily on Bellingham to come up with big goals this season, and the arrival of Mbappe will mean that they have more goalscoring weapons in their attacking line.

Bellingham in a deeper role could still be allowed to push forward, but Ancelotti may now rely on his physical attributes to win the ball in deeper areas, and his creativity to supply the attacking line, and Mbappe, with chances.

Real Madrid could potentially become the best attacking team in the world with Mbappe and Bellingham working together, but it remains to be seen how well they can gel together.
