NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls: Preview, predictions and lineups

By Braden Chalker

The latest installment of the Hudson River Derby is on the horizon with NYCFC playing host to New York Red Bulls this weekend at Citi Field.

Both sides are pushing for playoff spots this fall after 13 matches played so far in MLS regular season action. NYCFC have rebounded after a difficult start to the campaign with five wins out of their last six matches played, with Nick Cushing looking to guide his side to the playoffs.

On the other side, the visiting Red Bulls managed to get the sour taste of defeat out of their mouths with their recent triumph over New England Revolution. Sandro Schwarz's side managed to get back in the win column following their crushing 6-2 defeat to Inter Miami and Lionel Messi while also claiming three points over DC United Wednesday night.

NYCFC vs New York Red Bulls score prediction

Both sets of players will be itching to get this one underway to claim bragging rights and strengthen their grip on their position in the Eastern Conference table.

Both teams have attacking departments that have been lauded among the best in MLS, but Red Bulls' defense is what will propel them to victory -- disregard the six goals conceded to Miami a couple weeks back. The RBNY attack will be too much for the NYCFC defense to contain, as Schwarz's side will pick up three huge points on the road in the latest Hudson River Derby.
