Japan attacker Takefusa Kubo provided an assist for the third-minute winner as Real Sociedad beat Valencia 1-0 at home in Spanish La Liga on Thursday.
Kubo made an immediate impact after making his first start in three games, stretching his left leg out near the byline to keep a deep cross from Ander Barrenetxea in play and allowing Andre Silva to net a simple header from a meter out at Reale Arena.
A constant threat down the right wing, Kubo played the full 90 minutes and helped Sociedad move up to 57 points and sixth in the table, the final qualifying spot for next season's Europa League, with two games to go.
Their next game on Sunday will be away to Real Betis, who are only a place and a point behind Sociedad on the table.
