'I would like to moan': Daniel Farke has two criticisms for Leeds players despite win over Norwich

Leeds United produced arguably their best performance of the season to beat Norwich City in the play-off semi-finals second leg on Thursday night, but Daniel Farke says he has two reasons to moan.

After a poor run of results at the back end of the Championship season and then a cagey affair at Carrow Road which ended in a 0-0 draw, Thursday night’s second leg promised to be a tricky clash for Leeds.

But Farke’s men raced into the lad and secured a huge 4-0 win at Elland Road, completely outclassing Norwich in Yorkshire. Ilia Gruev gave Leeds the lead with his first goal for the club, a brilliant free-kick.

Willy Gnonto’s imperious cross was headed home by Joel PIroe before Georginio Rutter made it 3-0, ending a run of bad form that Farke commented on in his post-match press conference after the win.

Crysencio Summerville netted his 21st goal of the season to make it 4-0 in the second half after a neat cut-back from Junior Firpo, as Leeds cruised into the final at Wembley come the end of the month.

Speaking after the game, Farke admitted that it wasn’t a perfect performance and there were still two areas that Leeds would still need to improve, saying he would have a “moan”.

Farke says there are two areas Leeds needed to improve last night

It was one of the best displays of the season, dominating from start to finish and limiting Norwich to just one chance. A mistake from Ethan Ampadu that allowed Josh Sargent through, but Illan Meslier saved.

Leeds could have easily scored five, six or seven goals last night and Farke says one area that requires improvement is how clinical his forward players are, and the players being “over-excited” with the ball.

“Football is never perfect, even today there were a few things which I would like to moan a little bit about and we have to speak about. We have to be more effective using our chances,” Farke said after the win.

“Also, I know in this stadium it’s not that easy, but sometimes we were a little over excited in possession or overriding that emotions but we have a pretty young side and overall it was a great night for us.”

Farke also says Leeds man produced ‘world class’ moment

Ampadu slipped on the ball and it al[lowed Norwich’s top scorer through, in on goal. USA star Sargent started the game after picking up a knock to his ankle against Leeds in the first leg, forcing him off.

While The 49ers are owners of Leeds, USA players are not well-liked at Leeds after Tyler Adams jumped ship and Brenden Aaronson and Weston McKennie struggled last season, and Sargent failed to score.

He attempted a chip after bearing down on goal but Illan Meslier was there with a strong hand to keep his second successive clean sheet, and Farke described the stop as “world class”.
