Summer House’s Jesse ‘just wants to be healthy’ after cancer scare

Jesse Solomon revealed on Summer House he was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was 27, in 2017, and again in 2018, when he found out the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes.

“I had gotten the blood tests and everything done before, so I was just supposed to show up [and] the doctor does his physical exam and you’re good to go,” Jesse explained.

After noting that the doctor felt something questionable during the exam, he was ordered to get “more tests”. Since then, he’s been cancer-free, but has now expressed his fears of another appointment.

Jesse says he “just wants to be healthy” and recently told Daily Dish about the emotional experience, “When I was out there crying with West [It feels good to feel, even though it’s scary.”

“I’m very sentimental, but with my own life I try to be very pragmatic. This group of people […] I think they’re just good people. It felt like they really cared about me,” Solomon continued.

The investor relations worker added, “I like to just be in a good headspace about things. Like when s***’s flying, I just duck. I try to be chill and make the best decisions.”

Solomon kept friends in the dark

Jesse didn’t tell his friends and co-stars about his ultrasound details, as he “didn’t want to worry everyone”. Yet his best mate, West, was “antsy” to hear the results of Jesse’s appointment.

At the time, he had felt completely healthy, but the reality was far from it. Jesse has since partnered with the American Cancer Society to help spread awareness “so others don’t have to go through this.”

He said he was “lucky enough to catch his cancer in the earlier stages” and urges anyone who feels anything unusual to visit their doctor as soon as possible.
