Sadly, stuntman and actor Tony McFarr passed away on Monday, May 13th 2024, at the age of 47 in his home.

Toxicology reports are being run, as told by the Orange County Medical Examiner. Speaking with TMZ, Tony’s mother described her son’s passing as “unexpected and shocking”.

He is best known to blockbuster fans as Chris’ stunt double. The pair first collaborated on the 2015 sequel Jurassic World, with Tony serving as the stunt double to Chris’ main character Owen Grady.

This led to them reuniting as an actor-stuntman duo on the 2017 Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Tony doubling as the iconic hero Star-Lord.

“Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr,” Chris wrote in a moving tribute on Instagram. “We did several movies together. We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set. I’ll never forget his toughness.”

Sharing some memories, he continued: “I remember he took a nasty shot to the head (in the title sequence of Guardians 2) and got several staples in his head – he came right back to work ready to go again. He was an absolute stud. He was always a gentleman and a professional.”

Closing out his tribute before sharing images of the two dressed in the same costumes on set, he wrote that Tony will “be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family, especially his daughter.”

Since beginning a career in movie and TV stunts with the crime-drama series Bones in 2011, Tony racked up some insane credits.

Tony has provided stunts on such big movies as The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Ant-Man And The Wasp, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Captain America: Civil War, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 & 2, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, and Fast & Furious 7.
