Ange Postecoglou issues fresh message to Tottenham fans after his seething comments on Tuesday night

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has now issued a fresh message to the fans after Tuesday’s furious press conference.

It has been a strange few days at Tottenham following the defeat to Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this week.

It was an event which got the better of Ange Postecoglou‘s patience as he vented his fury on one fan in the seats directly behind the dugout.

But it did not stop there with the Australian producing one of the most memorable press conferences in the club’s history.

A few days have now passed and Postecoglou has had an opportunity to take stock on the comments made.

Speaking from Hotspur Way ahead of the final game of the season, the Spurs manager has now issued a fresh message to the fans.

What Ange Postecoglou said to Spurs fans after Manchester City loss

It was a press conference which will have certainly divided the Spurs fan base with Postecoglou left seething after the game.

Although the Australian’s point of view was very clear in that he wants to win every game, he may have fallen short on the context of the rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal.

The loss meant Tottenham’s Champions league dreams were brought to an end as Aston Villa’s spot in fourth was confirmed.

However, Tottenham’s top four hopes were all but ended when they lost four consecutive games on the bounce.

Tottenham face Sheffield United on Sunday and only require a point to clinch fifth, ahead of the game, Postecoglou has shared a new message to the Spurs fans.

“Now like I said, the last game I don’t understand and I hold my hands up I got it wrong. I sat here the day before and I mocked the whole thing because I really didn’t believe that was the case. But if that’s how people feel and again I can’t because I am not a Spurs supporter,” he told the media.

“They are and this is their football club. They are the custodians, not me. All I can say is offer my opinion of what you need to be successful and for me you can’t be successful if your motivations change depending on the contest.

“You have got to win all the team. If you are playing your brother, you have got to fight to the death. He’s still your brother, but you’ve got to fight to the death to win. That’s just been me my whole career. It wasn’t just a Spurs supporter thing.”

Time for everyone to move on at Tottenham

Postecoglou has now held his hands up and apologised for what he said in the wake of the game on Tuesday night.

Everyone at Spurs should now be back on the same page with Tuesday’s game a real novelty of a fixture which will unlikely come around again anytime soon.

It is back to eyes on winning for Spurs and they can seal the season off in style with a big victory over the league’s bottom side.

Change will be brought around in the summer and a fresh look to this Spurs side is expected ahead of the new season.

Postecoglou clearly has big ambitions at Spurs and that should provide the fans with a lot of optimism over the summer.
