When Queen Elizabeth II passed away in 2022, King Charles III became the UK’s monarch in place of his mother. Aged 73, the royal was crowned at Westminster Abbey in May 2023. Of course, there would be no doubt that the king is a millionaire, but just how many millions he has may surprise you in comparison to, say, a whole host of popular musicians. Now that the Sunday Times Rich List has been updated for this year, it’s time to draw some comparisons
King Charles’ net worth doesn’t stack up to some musicians
Every year, the Sunday Times publishes its Rich List of the 1,000 wealthiest people or families residing in the UK, ranked by net wealth.
With the 2024 list now public, it’s perhaps surprising to learn that Charles only ranks 258th with an estimated worth of £610 million. It’s a staggering amount of money, and he’s even up £10 million from last year. However, the figure doesn’t stack up against an array of iconic musicians.
For example, the iconic Paul McCartney, known for The Beatles and his solo work, appeared above Charles on the list with his wife Linda at 165th place, estimated to be worth £1 billion.

These musicians are billionaires in 2024
Forbes recently put out a list of the world’s celebrity billionaires, and there are a small handful of musicians who made it onto the list.
Taylor Swift is one of them, estimated to have a worth of $1.1 billion. Her Eras Tour recently became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, and she is the biggest pop star on the planet after all.
Even higher up the list is Rihanna. The We Found Love singer is worth a whopping $1.4 billion and is only two years older than Taylor’s 34.
Last but not least, Forbes ranks 54-year-old rapper Jay-Z as number five on the billionaire list with a net worth of $2.5 billion. He’s made his money as a musician, producer, and entrepreneur.
Jay may not be a king, but his Empire state of mind crowned him hip-hop royalty decades ago.
