Lucas Radebe posts brilliant video of his celebration as Joel Piroe scored for Leeds United

Lucas Radebe reminded Leeds United fans that the club belongs in his heart as he posted a video of his celebration for Joel Piroe’s goal on social media, during last night’s huge win.

Despite a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road and the two sides seemingly well-matched in East Anglia, Leeds took complete control of the second leg and smashed The Canaries 4-0 to progress to final at Wembley.

Leeds fans produced a wonderful atmosphere ahead of the game throughout the massive win, with Illan Meslier taking to Instagram on Friday to praise the club’s fans for the noise generated at Elland Road.

Ilia Gruev opened the scoring with his first goal for Leeds, placing a clever free-kick past Angus Gunn. Piroe made it 2-0, staying brave to head home past Gunn from a quite incredible Willy Gnonto cross.

Georginio Rutter ended a poor run of form to make it 3-0 with his weaker right foot, before Crysenio Summerville tapped home a fourth after the break to send Leeds into the final at Wembley next Sunday.

Leeds legend Radebe was watching the game at home and he took to X, posting a video of how he celebrated Leeds’ second goal which saw the South African running and knee sliding.

It was a quite sublime performance from Daniel Farke’s side, with a number of Leeds players coming good after a poor run of form. Rutter and Summerville had dipped, but improved during the huge 4-0 win.

Daniel Farke even commented on Rutter’s recent form, with the Leeds boss saying he had played well in training but was then performing “badly” on the weekend until his man of the match display last night.

Piroe was the same, his form up and down since losing his starting spot to Patrick Bamford in January but it was his 14th goal of the season last night and it clearly delighted Elland Road fan favourite Radebe.

Radebe posted on X, his caption: This is what I love about Leeds United, not just a club but an institution.”

Who would Leeds prefer to play in the play-off final?

The defeat to Southampton will have given Leeds and the club’s supporters a bit of a nervous feeling with the two sides always expected to meet in the play-off final, as the Saints take on West Brom on Friday.

Like Leeds and Norwich, they played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg. But the way West Brom play is likely to see Carlos Corberan make it harder for Southampton to score, than Norwich did for Leeds last night.

Leeds lost both times to Southampton in the regular season but the first saw the likes of Joe Rodon, Ilia Gruev, Patrick Bamford and Archie Gray all on the bench down south as Farke’s men suffered a 3-1 loss.

At home, the 2-1 defeat was worrying but also the final day of the season with little to play for as Ipswich were always going to beat Huddersfield. Leeds failed to beat West Brom too, drawing at home in August.

Then, Leeds went to West Brom just after Christmas and lost to Corberan but that was in the midst of a bad run of form. Both sides played both games against Leeds when things weren’t right, now they are.
