'That's the one': Darren Bent thinks £17m Premier League star would be a dream signing for Chelsea

Darren Bent has named the Premier League star he thinks would be a perfect signing for Chelsea this summer. What’s interesting is that the Blues have been linked with the individual recently in the transfer rumour mill, too.

The Blues have one game left on the final day of the Premier League season before attention can fully turn on what happens this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side finish up at home to Bournemouth this Sunday, where they know they’ll secure European qualification if they avoid defeat. The team deserves big credit for putting together a four-game winning streak to potentially catapult them into Europe.

Afterwards, how busy will the summer transfer window be at Chelsea?

Darren Bent claims £17m star would be perfect for Chelsea

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has just said that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is exactly the type of signing that Chelsea needs to make in the goalkeeping department.

He doesn’t think the £17m gloveman (Sky Sports) will leave Villa Park after helping them qualify for the Champions League, though.

When asked about Chelsea transfer links to Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, Bent replied to talkSPORT: “That would be unbelievable.”

Bent then added: “I think they’ve been linked with Emi Martinez as well. Now that’s the one. Obviously I can’t see him leaving Villa.”

Emiliano Martinez links to Chelsea

Interestingly, Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Martinez is rumoured to be a potential Chelsea transfer target.

SportsLens claimed this month that Chelsea have set their sights on Villa’s Martinez as a summer target.

The Chelsea Chronicle’s view is that the charismatic 31-year-old shot-stopper would be a massive signing. On top of his obvious quality, he’s a big upgrade on Blues keepers Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez.

If the Blues want to get back to winning silverware, they need one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Villa are fortunate to own just that.
