‘Wonderful talent’: Gary Lineker says he absolutely loves watching ‘remarkable’ Man City player

Gary Lineker has said that he’s a big fan of one particular Manchester City player.

The Manchester club could make history once again this weekend by beating West Ham United in their final Premier League game of the season to become the first side to win four league titles in a row.

Beyond that, they have the chance to win the FA Cup again by beating Manchester United at Wembley Stadium next weekend.

With two trophies on the line for Pep Guardiola’s side, one pundit has pinpointed one specific player in the City squad he has particular admiration for.

Speaking to talkSPORT at the recent FWA awards, Lineker had this to say about Phil Foden and what he thinks about the midfielder.

He said: “He is a wonderful talent.

“We have seen throughout, not just this season but in previous seasons, he has been around for so long now. You feel like, oh it is about time he got Football of the Year, but he is still a child.

“A remarkable talent. He has blossomed. He has now become one of Pep’s absolute go-to’s. I love watching him play. I have been a big fan of his for an awfully long time.”

Foden has been a key attacking figure for City this season

In 34 Premier League games this season, the 23-year-old has found the back of the net 17 times and delivered eight assists.

As well as that, the midfielder has made more key passes (68) than any other player in the City squad.

Additionally, Foden has racked up the second-highest total of shot-creating actions (136), goal-creating actions (20), carries into the penalty area (55) and shots on target (44) at the club.

Having been so involved in City’s attacks this season, it’s not hard to see why Lineker has enjoyed watching the England international on the pitch.
