Michigan State transfer Jaden Mangham commits to Michigan

Coveted Michigan State transfer Jaden Mangham has made his decision. Mangham has committed to Michigan after also considering Ohio State and Nebraska.

The rising junior was one of the top defensive backs in the Big Ten last season, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors.

Mangham led the Spartans with four interceptions in 2023. He also had 53 tackles and three pass breakups.

Jaden Mangham played in 11 games last season, making 10 starts. He signed with Michigan State after being ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 8 athlete in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry rankings.

The Michigan native is joining a Wolverines program that is now under the leadership of Sherrone Moore.

Mangham should step in and immediately be an impact player for Michigan.

In addition to having an excellent sophomore season in 2023, Mangham also was a playmaker for Michigan State as a freshman in 2022.

That season, he recorded 20 tackles, while playing in nine games, He also made a pair of starts.

Mangham entered the transfer portal at the end of April after a pair of seasons with the Spartans. Michigan State will be under the direction of new head coach Jonathan Smith in 2024.

Former Louisville, Tennessee transfer safety Wesley Walker commits to Michigan

Jaden Mangham was the second big defensive back pick up for Michigan on Friday.

Earlier Friday, former Tennessee safety and Louisville transfer Wesley Walker committed to Michigan. He entered the transfer portal April 23 after initially committing to the Cardinals earlier this offseason.

Walker went through spring practice at Louisville after transferring from Tennessee, but re-entered the portal afterward. He appeared in 23 games with the Vols, including 12 starts, as he recorded 89 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, seven pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception in his two seasons in Knoxville.

Walker played high school football at Ensworth High School (Tenn.), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 505 overall recruit and the No. 46 safety in the 2019 cycle according to On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Wolverines also picked up a commitment from former FCS All-American Aamir Hall on Thursday following an impressive season at Albany. On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong both predicted Hall to end up with the Wolverines.

This past season, Hall totaled five interceptions and 15 pass deflections. He started his college career at Richmond, where he spent three seasons at Richmond before transferring to Albany.
