Hearts v Rangers team news confirmed: Debut at left-back as Clement makes two changes

Rangers travel across the M8 to take on Hearts in the final Scottish Premiership fixture of what has been a tumultuous season.

Philippe Clement has a few bodies back from an extensive injury list, however, the Gers boss will be hoping that his squad is in better shape for the Scottish Cup final against Celtic.

With only pride at stake, this is how Rangers line up to face a Hearts side that were on the beach a long time ago.

Hearts v Rangers team news confirmed

Jack Butland was visibly fuming with his defenders against Dundee in mid-week.

It was an unfamiliar team but it is one that will see changes once again as Clement looks to prepare for next weekend.

Speaking as part of the pre-match press conference he had bad news for one left-back and good news for another:

“I can tell you also already that Ridvan Yilmaz cannot start the game because doing that would be a high risk after his injury. We need to build up that story.”

With Borna Barisic also unavailable, this means that Robbie Fraser, who impressed against Dundee on his debut, gets to start his first game for the club he so clearly loves.

What a chance to stake a claim for next season and persuade the manager that he doesn’t need a new left-back after all.

The centre-half pairing remains the same, and Leon King should be looking for a more polished performance.

He grew into the game at Ibrox, however, he was culpable for both of the goals, to a certain degree.

Ben Davies, has looked good since returning to the first-team fold and will organise a very youthful looking back four.

With John Lundstram still suspended, the midfield that dominated the second-half against Dundee gets another run out.

Nicolas Raskin started slowly but was, with Todd Cantwell, Rangers best player after the break and really imposed himself on the game.

Cantwell was at his imperious best.

If the Gers playmaker could have produced that for 38 league games, the league title would be back in the Ibrox trophy room.

This is your Rangers team for the short trip to face Hearts:

One change up front as Rangers look to finish on a high

Abdallah Sima is fit again, however, he is nowhere n

ear fit enough to start, the priority for him is now Hampden.

Ross McCausland looked good after his goal – he needs to do it from the start now – and Cyriel Dessers took his header well, even if he had a couple of easier chances.

Fabio Silva’s link up play with Cantwell was some of the best we’ve seen this season but his finishing is miles away from what a player of his potential should be producing and Scott Wright has been rewarded for taking the two chances that he got.

Tynecastle is never an easy place to go, hopefully, a bit of momentum can be picked up ahead of a pivotal clash next weekend.
