UCLA teammates hilariously crash Sharlize Palacios’ postgame interview in NCAA Tournament

Sharlize Palacios was just trying to give a postgame interview on ESPN but her teammates hilariously crashed her television hit.

After winning the Pac-12, UCLA found itself against Grand Canyon in the first game of the NCAA Regional. Following the 9-0 win in just five innings, Palacios got to speak with the broadcast crew afterwards.

She was completely unbothered by her teammates, who stacked bats, gloves and other props all on her during her hit.

This writer just wants to know where the box of Reese’s Puffs cereal came from. Plus, Thor’s hammer also made an appearance?

Just like Palacios’ focus during the postgame interview, which was impressive by the way, UCLA wants to remain focused on what’s ahead, not the past.

“We’re all super focused on this year and we’re super excited to get to it,” Palacios said. “We couldn’t wait to start playing this week. So we were just super excited and focused on that. All of us were really excited for each other’s success. And we were doing things yesterday that we were ready to see and I think we saw (that with Kaitlyn Terry on the mound) … they all came through.”

Terry, the Pac-12 Freshman of the year, got a two-hit shutout performance with seven strikeouts in her first NCAA Regional game.

“We want to be our best right now, and I’m feeling pretty good about the way we’re swinging our stick,” head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez said. “It’s not just anyone, it’s the entire team, and hitting is contagious and this team did a great job. But that kind of overshadows the freshman KT, what she did in the circle. To be able to throw a shutout in game one of her first post-season game is exciting for things to come.”

Palacios, UCLA’s catcher, hit a pair of home runs to lead the mercy rule victory. He has home runs in six of her last 12 games and Friday was the 21st mult-homer game in UCLA softball postseason history.

“I’m just trying to stay loose,” Palacios said. “I like hitting to the outside part of the field. It’s just staying loose and staying bought in.”

UCLA will face Virginia Tech in the winner’s bracket of the Los Angeles Regional Saturday at 5:00 p.m. ET. The Hokies beat San Diego State 5-1 to get a date with the Bruins.
