Oregon is in the mix for multiple five-star prospects as it pushes for another top-five recruiting class.

Galveston (Texas) Ball five-star safety Jonah Williams is one of the Ducks’ top targets, and he’s back in Eugene this weekend. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder is alongside Oregon four-star quarterback commit Akili Smith Jr., one of the top commits in the fold for Dan Lanning.

Williams trimmed his list of top schools down to seven last month, with Oregon making the cut. Oklahoma entered the spring with the momentum in his recruitment, but it’s Texas A&M that’s currently surging in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Ducks will try and keep its contender status with another big impression this weekend.

“I’m very excited. I have a lot of family that lives by the campus. I have a great feeling talking to them and it’s always been a fan favorite for everyone because of their jerseys, but my brother and I loved Oregon,” Williams previously told On3 about his interest in the Ducks.

Williams has stayed busy taking visits this year, and a round of official visits are on deck. Texas A&M, USC, LSU and Oregon are all currently set to receive OVs from the 6-foot-3, 205-pound playmaker. The Aggies received a prediction to land Williams via On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong earlier this month.

“Two visits to College Station this spring I think has put Texas A&M in pole position for Jonah Williams going into the next wave of visits. Mike Elko’s track record of helping develop guys like Jesse Bates and Kyle Hamilton has certainly resonated with Jonah Williams, plus the way they plan to use him as a Swiss Army knife in this Texas A&M defense,” Wiltfong said on the ‘Wiltfong Whiparound’.

Williams is the No. 10 overall prospect and top-ranked safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Texas.

Oregon Class Breakdown

With seven commitments in 2025 cycle, the Ducks are off to another great start. Oregon currently ranks No. 6 in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Tampa Bay Tech five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson headlines the class for Oregon, ranking No. 22 in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s joined by Smith Jr., Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt and Belleville (Ill.) Althoff Catholic four-star athlete Dierre Hill in the top 150.

As the son of former Ducks star and NFL top-5 pick Akili Smith, Akili Jr. grew up around the program wearing Ducks gear.

“It means the world to me to be committed to Oregon,” he told On3. “It has always been my dream to be a Duck. Since I have been able to walk, my dad has had me in Oregon stuff, I have watched a lot of Oregon games and this is a dream coming true. I get to carry on my dad’s legacy, start my own legacy and at the same time play for a great program like Oregon and push for my dreams to reach the NFL.”

The class features two more blue-chip receivers in Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North four-star Isaiah Mozee and Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep four-star Cooper Perry. Concord (Calif.) De La Salle four-star defensive lineman Matthew Johnson rounds out the class. All seven commits are top-300 recruits.
