David Raya makes 'incredible' claim about Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal v Everton clash

David Raya has shared his honest verdict on Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season against Everton.

The on-loan signing from Brentford has been a fantastic addition to the Gunners’ squad, with Raya claiming the Premier League Golden Glove award and winning the love and support of Arsenal fans after a difficult start.

Having replaced fan favourite Aaron Ramsdale, Raya’s story this season has been one of the best at Arsenal, with club legend David Seaman even praising the 28-year-old for his efforts this year.

And Raya has now given his verdict on what it’s like to work with Arteta at Arsenal.

Raya lauds ‘incredible’ Arteta as Arsenal manager and as a person

Speaking to the Daily Star, Raya was full of praise for Arteta both as Arsenal’s manager and as a person, with the Gunners set for their final league game of the season against Everton.

Arsenal will need a favour from West Ham if they’re to lift the Premier League title for the first time in 20 years, and Raya seems confident that the Gunners are going places under Arteta.

Raya said when asked what it’s been like to work with Arteta this season having joined on loan last summer: “As a person, he’s 10 out of 10, and the same as a manager.

“He knows what he wants. He shows us how to get the best out of the group. With the staff, the fans, the players, he has brought this club together again. What he’s done is incredible.”

Arteta pulled off a coup in signing Raya last summer

As mentioned, few fans were for the signing of Raya given how good Ramsdale was last season and how much of a fan favourite had become at the Emirates Stadium since arriving in 2021.

Yet once again, Arteta has been proven right in his decision to sign Raya to replace Ramsdale between the sticks, with the Spanish international giving Arsenal that extra layer of calmness needed at the back.

Indeed, Raya will become a permanent signing later this summer, and the former Blackburn Rovers star will want to again prove why Arteta put so much faith in him in the years to come.
