‘A dream come true’: £30m player says he’d love to stay at Arsenal this summer

Mikel Arteta faces a key summer transfer window at Arsenal and one player has admitted he’s keen to stay at the club.

Arsenal will be hoping to pull off an unlikely Premier League title win today as they head into the final game of the season two points behind Manchester City.

The Gunners’ superior goal difference means if City drop points, Mikel Arteta’s men could lift the title at the Emirates Stadium.

While Arsenal could end the season without silverware, it’s been yet another positive campaign for Arteta. There were question marks over their ability to produce results at the business end of the campaign but Arteta’s side have put those doubts to rest.

With a crucial summer transfer window just around the corner, Arsenal look set to bolster their options in the middle of the park and up front.

But they also have a decision to make over David Raya’s future after the Spaniard joined on a season-long loan deal from Brentford last summer.

David Raya wants to stay at Arsenal

Much was made about Arteta’s decision to replace Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks but Raya has impressed in recent months.

The Spaniard has picked up the Premier League’s Golden Glove award, having kept 16 clean sheets in his debut season at the Emirates.

Arsenal paid an initial £3 million to loan Raya last summer, with the option to sign the goalkeeper for £27 million.

Now, when quizzed on his future in north London, Raya insisted he is fully focused on the task at hand today. But the loanee admitted he would love to stay at Arsenal and pick up major silverware.

“No, no. I am just focused on the present. I don’t want to think too much about the future,” he said.

“It’s not up to me now. I have to think about the game on Sunday. Then we break for summer.

“It’s not up to me to sign. It’s up to the club and Mikel. If my performances have been good enough, hopefully, they will offer me a contract.

“Of course, I would love to be here next season and, if that’s the case, it will be amazing – a dream come true. I don’t want it to stop here. I want more. I want to win trophies with Arsenal.” as quoted by The Daily Star.

Will Arsenal sign Raya?

Given his impressive displays between the sticks of late, it would be a surprise to see Arsenal pass up the opportunity to sign Raya.

While the goalkeeper has suggested the decision is down to Arteta, it has already been claimed that the Gunners plan to go ahead with the deal.

Indeed, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano stated back in March that Arsenal will take up the £27 million option this summer.

Ramsdale also looks set to leave the Emirates Stadium after losing his place to Raya, with Arsenal eyeing a surprise return for Wojciech Szczesny.
