Feyenoord share goodbye video to Arne Slot as fans sing Liverpool song in the background

Liverpool fans are ready for a huge day on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp takes charge of the team for the final time.

It will be an emotion-charged event at Anfield, with Wolves representing Klopp’s final opponents of his almost nine-year reign.

But, this being the last day of the season, the Liverpool manager isn’t the only one saying goodbye on Sunday. Across Europe, players and coaches are leaving clubs to move onto something new.

Of course, only one of those will matter to Reds fans as of now. But with Feyenoord in action at De Kuip, incoming boss Arne Slot will lead his team for the last time, too.

Slot is still yet to be officially confirmed as Liverpool’s new boss. But after signing his contract on Friday, it’s an open secret that the 45-year-old is set to follow Klopp. And if any more proof were needed, Feyenoord may have just provided it.

Feyenoord release Arne Slot goodbye video

Klopp is the man of the moment on Sunday, there’s no debating that. The German is one of the best managers to lead Liverpool in the club’s history.

Having added plenty to their trophy count, Klopp will go down as someone truly legendary at Anfield.

However, it’s also impossible for Liverpool supporters not to cast one eye on the future, too. Everyone is wondering just what the Slot era will bring.

Feyenoord fans can certainly attest that the 45-year-old will be a success with the Reds. As shown in an emotional video released on Sunday morning on X, his farewell is going to hit hard in Rotterdam.

The video features Slot walking into an empty De Kuip, with a voiceover thanking him for all he has achieved at the club. As the 90-second video comes to an end, the narrator makes a poignant point.

“Walk on coach,” he says. “With us in your heart. But remember one thing…” at that moment You’ll Never Walk alone reaches it’s crescendo as Slot stands between the two trophies he won in charge of Feyenoord. Beautiful.

When Arne Slot could be announced as Liverpool’s new manager

This is an exceptional video from Feyenoord’s social media team. It shows just what Slot means to their club, while also strongly hinting at where his future lies.

It should be noted that the Dutch side do also sing You’ll Never Walk Alone before games, but the Liverpool connection is clearly deliberate.

With Slot heading for the exit on the same day as Klopp, we had expected that an official announcement would already have been made by now.

However, the two club’s have obviously decided to let saying goodbye take centre-stage for the moment.

We expect that confirmation of Slot’s appointment is now likely to take place either on Monday or Tuesday, once the dust settles on Klopp’s farewell. A sad day all around then, but also one for excitement about the future.
