'It looks like': Chris Sutton delivers his Scottish Cup final prediction after watching Celtic's title party

Now that the Scottish Premiership title is sitting nicely in the Celtic Park trophy cabinet, all attention now turns to next weekend.

The build-up to the Scottish Cup final against Rangers will now commence as the countdown to the end-of-season finale commences.

With Celtic having the upper hand over Rangers this season, it will take something huge performance from the Ibrox club to record their first win of the season over the Scottish Champions.

That’s according to Chris Sutton at least.

Celtic vs Rangers ‘canter’ prediction

Three wins and a draw over the Ibrox club have practically convinced the former Celtic hero that a win is on the cards next Saturday.

And whilst the Celtic fans would never be so blasé about a win over our closest rivals, after watching them drop points again against Hearts, Sutton thinks Celtic are set to be victorious over the Ibrox club.

Sutton said [BBC 606], “Rangers dropped points again. Are Rangers really going to contest Celtic for the Scottish Cup next weekend?

“Can they push Celtic? It looks like Celtic are going to win at a canter.”

Look, you can’t argue with Celtic’s form in this fixture this season or with Brendan Rodgers’ record over Rangers as the Hoops boss.

Drawing the other three, it does seem as though Rodgers has the Ibrox club’s number. And whilst I don’t conform to the narrative that form goes out the window in the Glasgow Derby, the unpredictability of what can happen in these games doesn’t.

We have seen how VAR directly affected the outcome of the 3-3 draw at Ibrox as Alistair Johnston was penalised for what was first adjudged to have been a Fabio Silva dive when Celtic were 2-0 up.

Anything can happen next Saturday especially when VAR is involved. Let’s hope we are talking about another Celtic win over Rangers and not the refereeing technology so that Joe Hart can get the send-off he deserves at the end of May.
