Rasmus Hojlund explains what he is realising about Manchester United fans, he's bought in

Rasmus Hojlund came off the bench to score Manchester United’s second goal during the victory over Brighton.

It has been tricky for Rasmus Hojlund this season. For months, he wondered where his first Premier League goal would come from.

He felt like he scored in his first ever Premier League start, at home to Brighton in September. He put ball ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out after VAR ruled Marcus Rashford had dribbled out of play.

Despite not netting a league goal until late December, Hojlund has managed to end with double figures in the league.

His goal away at Brighton was his tenth in the Premier League, and 16th for United in all competitions.

Through the season, let’s not sugar-coat it, 2023/24 has been full of disappointment for Manchester United.

Eliminated at the Champions League group stages, out of the Carabao Cup early, and finishing in eighth place in the Premier League, it’s been very tough at Old Trafford.

The league has been particularly difficult, and Hojlund has felt this on a week to week basis.

That’s why, when it does go right, which it rarely has done this season, Hojlund is especially keen to enjoy it when the team does win.

After the 2-0 victory over Brighton, at a stadium where United had lost on the club’s two previous visits, Hojlund expressed his happiness, and most of all, explained how thrilled he was for the club’s supporters.

The Dane wrote on Instagram: “This is me realizing I’ll never get used to the view of United fans celebrating.❤️ Thanks for the support. Wembley is waiting!!!!”

The biggest game of Hojlund’s career awaits

The biggest match of Rasmus Hojlund’s career awaits next weekend, when Manchester United take on Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

If Hojlund thought United’s travelling support was happy after the 2-0 win at Brighton, wait until he sees the reaction if the team beat City at Wembley.

Hojlund has bought in fully, having experienced the pain United have gone through this season, and probably he has felt some responsibility for that, such has been the pressure placed on his shoulders.

So he’s more than entitled to soak up the good moments and enjoy it.

United will head into the final next weekend as underdogs, but with a little momentum, after two successive wins to end the season, and players returning from injuries.

Winning the FA Cup would transform the season for United. We know they want it. Whether they are good enough, let’s see.
