Bryson DeChambeau came up short of winning the PGA Championship but is considered a winner by many fans for what he did for a kid. During the tournament’s final round, DeChambeau threw his golf ball to a young fan, but an older man intercepted the throw. This led to DeChambeau yelling at the man until he gave the ball back to the young fan.

Many fans showed support for DeChambeau on social media. “Is Bryson becoming one of my favorite golfers?”one person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Many people seem to be changing their opinion of him lately. Actions like this just make you smile and wish much success for the guy. He is really good for the game right now.”

Another person wrote: “This changes my opinion of Bryson. Talented golfer playing on a circus golf tour but a standup guy. Nice to see the adult who snatched the ball from the kid get called out.”

Bryson DeChambeau finishes second at PGA Championship

DeChambeau finished second in the PGA Championship with a 20 under par, one stroke behind the winner Xander Schauffele. It’s the ninth consecutive PGA Championship won by an American.

“I was actually kind of emotional after the putt lipped in,” said Schauffele, whose last victory came at the Scottish Open in July 2022, per ESPN. “It’s been a while since I’ve won. I kept saying it all week, I just need to stay in my lane. Man, was it hard to stay in my lane today, but I tried all day to just keep focus on what I’m trying to do and keep every hole ahead of me. Had some weird kind of breaks coming into the house, but it’s all good now.”

Schauffele also said”: “I stayed very patient. “I was looking up at the board. There’s been times where I tried to look away from it until the back nine, but today I was looking at it. I just wanted to be aware of everything. I wanted to know exactly where I stood. I wanted to address my feelings when they were happening.”

DeChambeau’s second-place finish comes after a sixth-place finish at the Masters in April. After the PGA Championship, DeChambeau praised Schauffele for earning the win. “Proud of Xander for finally getting the job done,” DeChambeau said. “I mean, he’s an amazing golfer and a well-deserved major champion now. He’s played well for a long, long time. Played against him as a junior. Not only is he just a great human being but an unbelievable golfer, and it shows this week. Super happy for him.”
