Report: Aston Villa 'willing to sell' £26m Steven Gerrard signing this summer as European Cup winners circle

Aston Villa are ‘willing to sell’ a £26m Steven Gerrard signing this summer as European Cup winners circle, according to a recent report.

The Villans have achieved their main goal of qualifying for the Champions League and now planning will start to begin for the fast approaching summer transfer window.

Already, there are deals going on elsewhere, so Villa can’t stand still, they must use their lure of European football to attract some of the continent’s best.

Though, it seems if they are to do that, they’ll have to sell players and with that said, one is already being linked with a move away.

Aston Villa ‘willing to sell’ Diego Carlos

Diego Carlos, who Steven Gerrard signed from Sevilla for £26m in 2022, has enjoyed a productive season at the heart of Villa’s defence.

Carlos has made 38 appearances across all competitions and has been integral to his side’s water-tight defensive record.

And yet, it has just come to light, that Villa are ‘willing to sell’ him this summer to stay in line with Profit and Sustainability regulations, according to the Telegraph.

The report further notes that he is on a contract worth £100,000-a-week, so he is evidently one of the biggest earners at the club.

Serie A giants Milan are thought to be interested in signing the 31-year-old.

Jacob Ramsey could also depart

Jacob Ramsey is another Villan who could potentially be departing this summer, though, it is believed that he wants to stay.

Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle United are all keeping tabs on the midfielder but may be put off by his valuation

A telling summer window awaits Villa.
