The 13 players who may have already played their last game for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou calls for ‘change’

Ange Postecoglou wrapped up an encouraging debut campaign at Tottenham with a 3-0 win at Sheffield United on Sunday.

The victory means Spurs will return to Europa League football next season, offering the Aussie boss a real opportunity to end the club’s long wait for silverware. But Ange Postecoglou is under no illusions about the need for improvement this summer.

The Tottenham boss claimed after the 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge that ‘change has to happen’ and his stance is unlikely to have softened after five defeats in his last seven Premier League games of the season.

With plenty of work to do this summer, The Spurs News has taken a closer look at the Tottenham players who may have already played their last game for the club.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Despite some encouraging performances from the bench this term, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s days at Spurs seem numbered.

The Dane has started just eight times in the Premier League this season and has seen his first-team role massively reduced under Postecoglou.

Spurs are reportedly ready to offload the midfielder to fund a move for Everton’s Amadou Onana.

Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil is another player who’s struggled for minutes this season and doesn’t seem suited to Postecoglou’s demands.

The 23-year-old’s move from Sevilla just hasn’t worked out and it’s already been claimed that Gil favours a permanent exit this summer after loan spells at his former side and Valencia.

Giovani Lo Celso

You have to sympathise with Giovani Lo Celso as the Argentine has performed well when called upon.

But as he’s failed to nail down a place in the starting XI, it’s no surprise to see reports claiming that Lo Celso is keen to move on.

Timo Werner

Timo Werner was very much viewed as a stop-gap signing after arriving from RB Leipzig on loan in January.

Despite the £15 million option to sign Werner and a promising start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a thigh injury ended the German forward’s season ahead of schedule earlier this month.

That may well prove to be detrimental to Werner’s chances of landing a permanent move to Spurs.

Ryan Sessegnon

Following a torrid couple of years due to persistent hamstring injuries, Ryan Sessegnon looks set to head out the door at Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Monday that Tottenham have decided against the option to renew the full-back’s contract, meaning he’ll leave for free next month.

Manor Solomon

Much like Sessegnon, Manor Solomon has had no luck with injuries in his debut season at Tottenham.

The Israeli winger managed two assists in his first five league games for Spurs after being snapped on a free transfer last summer.

But he has been ruled out with a meniscus injury since October and Tottenham are open to offers for the winger.

Emerson Royal

Emerson Royal is a player who certainly divides opinion amongst Tottenham supporters.

The Brazilian never lacks in terms of effort but just isn’t suited to Postecoglou’s demands of his full-backs.

Amid claims that Bayern Munich could move for Royal this summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise to the Lilywhites upgrade in the full-back department.

Richarlison

Should Richarlison head out the door this summer, it would raise a few eyebrows. The Brazil star has missed a total of nine games in the league this season through injury but finished as Spurs’ second top goalscorer with 11 goals.

With that being said, Tottenham are in the market for a new striker and Richarlison is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Tottenham loanees

Many of Spurs’ loanees are unlikely to have a future under Postecoglou when they return to north London this summer.

Japhet Tanganga has enjoyed a positive spell at Millwall and the Championship outfit have agreed a deal with Spurs to sign their academy product.

Joe Rodon could also head to Leeds United after a brilliant season at Elland Road on loan.

As for Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence, all three look set to head out the door after being frozen out by Postecoglou last summer.
