Last night at North Wilkesboro, things were a little more old-school than usual. Including the Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. fight. Wilkesboro brings out the traditions of NASCAR and that includes post-race scuffles.

With all of the drama surrounding this fight, it’s going to be the talk of the week. This and how does Goodyear come back with another, even softer tire next time they hit a short track. The fact that Stenhouse connected with Busch makes this a bigger deal than pushing and shoving.

Kyle Petty is already chiming in on things. He gave his hot takes to start the week as he does every week of the NASCAR season. In his mind, he is perplexed by what Kyle Busch did on the track.

On the replay, it was obvious that Busch hit the wall before Stenhouse made contact with him. Then Busch put him in the wall to end his night on Lap 2.

“I want to go back to that incident. I think Kyle Busch and he didn’t have the hindsight, didn’t have the opportunity to in that one and a half laps that he run, to watch the replay of the video where he was in the wrong and Ricky Stenhouse was in the right,” Petty said. “You could have put two fans in the middle of the race track between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch and he still runs into the wall. I don’t know what he was thinking there, he comes back not only does he plant it going into Turn 1 between 1 and 2, he just turns him into the outside wall. Totally uncalled for.

“I’ve seen a lot of people say, ‘That’s not the way Kyle Busch drives.’ I’m going to say two names, Ron Hornaday and Joey Logano, just ask them how Kyle Busch drives sometimes. This is frustration, remember when Kyle Busch used to run up front? No, I can’t remember it either. Because it’s been about a year and a half and I think it’s the frustration come out.”

On the replay, it gives Kyle Buscha bad look. I believe Petty is right, this is frustration. Busch said afterward that he was tired of being pushed around. So, he wrecked Stenhouse. It is not a big stretch of the imagination to believe Busch overreacted.

This season has not gone the way Busch wanted. Last season, the RCR No. 8 team had three wins by the end of June. So far this season, he is winless. When Busch hit the wall, he felt it was Ricky Stenhouse’s fault. For that, he wrecked Stenhouse. Plain and simple.
