Caitlin Clark has arrived in style ahead of the Indiana Fever’s home game against the Connecticut Sun on Monday.

Walking into Gainbridge Fieldhouse sporting bell-bottom jeans with a white button-up top that would make Kim Mulkey blush and a clutch purse to match — Clark is ready to secure the first win of her young WNBA career.

The Fever dropped each of their three games to start the season. Relatedly, Clark’s WNBA debut came against the Sun on May 14. The Fever would lose 92-71 and Clark recorded 20 points, three points and two steals. She also committed 10 turnovers in the defeat.

“I thought it was physical,” Clark said after her debut. “I don’t know, obviously it wasn’t like the best start in the first half for myself getting into foul trouble and then you got to sit on the bench and try to come back into the game and get into a little bit of a flow.

“Obviously, too many turnovers. That’s not going to get the job done, but I think just a lot of things to learn from. I didn’t think we played well, and we cut it to 6 [points] in the third quarter.”

More than 2.12 million people tuned in to ESPN2 for her debut game, according to Sports Media Watch – the most-watched WNBA game since 2001 when 2.45 million fans watched the Los Angeles Sparks take on the Houston Comets on NBC. Tuesday’s game also became the first live-action sporting event streamed on Disney+ in addition to Hulu.

She followed that performance up with a nine-point performance against the New York Liberty, losing by a decisive score of 102-66 in what was her debut in front of Fever fans during a regular season game.

While her shot wouldn’t fall, she did manage to record seven rebounds and six assists against the Liberty. The Fever rematched New York in their next outing and Clark turned that performance around scoring a new career-high of 22 points to go with six rebounds and eight assists.

Clark joined the WNBA as the most prolific women’s college basketball player of all time. While her early struggles are a surprise to some, the Iowa legend is still getting acclimated to the pace and physicality that the WNBA has to offer.

Monday night’s game against the Sun airs live on ESPN as the Fever looks to earn their first win of the 2024 regular season.
