With only a few weeks to wait until the 2024 European Championships kick off in Germany, and now England boss Gareth Southgate has made his decisions over his squad for the tournament.

In the provisional squad for the tournament, Southgate has named three Manchester United players with Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo all getting on the plane in a couple of weeks.

Marcus Rashford speaks out after being snubbed by England

After the England squad was announced on Tuesday afternoon, Rashford took to his Instagram with a message.

Rashford wrote: “Wishing Gareth and the boys all the best for the up and coming tournament.”

Being excluded from this tournament will be a huge blow for Rashford after what has been a difficult season for him at club level.

This however could be the wake-up calling he’s been needing to kick himself back into form after a season of below-par performances.

It’s little surprise really that Southgate would opt for others in his squad, with only Jack Grealish’s inclusion being controversial ahead of Rashford.

That being said, United fans have been saying a lot about the decision to exclude Rashford.

Rashford could have a scary 2024-25 season for Manchester United

Such a snub as this should in theory act as motivation for Rashford going forward and into the 2024-25 season, assuming he remains at United.

If he is serious, Rashford will use this blow as a motivation over the summer to return to Carrington in top form and prove everyone wrong for doubting him.

This summer feels like a junction in the boyhood United player’s career as he’s no longer a starter and rarely looks anything close to the player we know him capable of being.

So his response to this blow feels very much like it could define the rest of his career, he needs to use it to his advantage.
