Former Seahawks All-Pro safety Jamal Adams is visiting with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday as he continues his search for a new team, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Seattle released Adams in March with one year remaining on his contract. By moving on, the Seahawks saved $6 million on the 2024 cap.

The veteran free agent is entering his eighth year in the league and could be joining his third NFL team. A first-round pick for the New York Jets in 2017, Adams played three seasons in the Gotham Green before the team traded him to Seattle in exchange for a couple of first-round picks, a second-round pick and safety Bradley McDougald.

Upon arriving in Seattle, Adams signed a four-year contract extension for $70.58 million. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, he didn’t play a single full season for them due to various injuries. Through seven seasons, he’s played in a total of 80 regular-season games. He’s accumulated 494 tackles, 21.5 sacks, 40.5 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, and four interceptions. Adams earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2019 and second-team honors in 2018 and 2020.

In 2023 for the Seahawks, Adams, coming off of a torn quad, played in nine games. He had 48 tackles with five tackles for loss. In an interview last year, the former LSU star noted that he considered retirement after his quad injury. In October of 2023, he suffered a concussion after taking a knee to the head. He then had a knee injury in November that sent him to IR.

According to ESPN‘s Bill Barnwell, the Kansas City Chiefs would provide a solid landing spot for Adams, however, it appears he’s interested in joining their Week 1 opponent instead.

More on the 2024 NFL offseason, free agency

The NFL 2024 calendar year began at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. At that time, contracts running through 2023 officially ran out, making those players free agents. Prior to the beginning of free agency, teams had a chance to designate one franchise or transition tag player, starting on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET and ending on March 5. Beginning March 11 through March 13 teams could enter into a legal negotiation with players who will become unrestricted free agents.

In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marked the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marked the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offers sheets hit. Following the restricted free agent deadline followed the 2024 NFL Draft, which ran from April 25-27.
