Report: Aston Villa target £21m-rated 'top level' player who is one of the best passers in Europe

Aston Villa are targeting a move for one of the best passers in Europe, according to a recent report.

The Villans ended the Premier League campaign in fourth place, thus qualifying for the Champions League.

That said, Unai Emery and club chiefs will be hard at work over the summer readying the squad for a return to football’s most illustrious domestic competition.

Already, it’s become pretty evident they are looking to add to their midfielder ranks, with one seemingly close to signing and now, a ‘top level’ number six has been linked, too.

Aston Villa eye Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani

According to Inter.Live, Aston Villa could make an ‘attempt’ to sign Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani, who is thought to be available for £21m.

The 18-cap Albania international has made 30 appearances this term but only six league starts, so Inter are looking to move him on this summer.

Inter paid Empoli £8.5m for his signature last summer following a one-season loan spell but he could be on the move again.

Villa are one of the interested parties as they look to add depth to their squad ahead of a congested fixture list next term.

Kristjan Asllani statistics

Asllani, who is considered a ‘top-level’ player in the making, is one of the best passers on the continent as his FBref statistics evince.

The 22-year-old ranks in the top six per cent for passes completed compared to his positional peers across the big five leagues.

Further, he sits in the top 12 per cent for pass completion, clocking in at an impressive 89.3% – evidencing his elite ability to dictate play and be the metronome.

Asllani would be a fantastic acquisition for Villa.
